Dates: July 5- July 13, 2025
All Whole Spirit participants and chaperones will stay at the Amigos for Christ compound in Chinandega, Nicaragua. We will begin the week with a team effort hike/climb up the beautiful Cerro Negro Volcano. It is our first kick-off adventure that will present our students with two different climbing options. They can choose a more scenic route, which requires moderate skill surrounded by beauty, or a tougher and more challenging route with the same beautiful views that will surely be rewarding. Either way, we will all gather at the summit together to celebrate and get excited for the week. We will spend the next 4 days working side by side with team leaders from Amigos and a local community that is in need of clean water access. Together we will dig trenches, harvest fruit, play games, dance, and use those Spanish skills as best we can.
You will leave each day tired and fulfilled, and we will join everyone back at the compound for dinner, rest, and reflection. You will meet other volunteers from different cities in the US and surely create unexpected friendships. We close out that portion of the service trip with a wonderful goodbye, and our Whole Spirit crew will then be driven to the coast of Nicaragua where we will spend 2 nights at an eco-friendly surf hotel. It will be a nice relaxing way to end our week and also hit the waves and surf.

Dominican Republic
July 19-July 27, 2025
Dates: July 19-July 27, 2025
Whole Spirit participants and group chaperones will stay at the Project Paradise Villa in Cabarete, DR. We will spend our week volunteering at a local youth summer camp. There we will help facilitate fun filled activities for the local Dominican kids as well as cultural immersion experiences for our participants. The Dominicans love sharing their culture with us by teaching us in a Bachata dance class, a “Dominican” Spanish workshop, and playing their two favorite sports- baseball and dominoes! We end each work day with a large delicious Dominican lunch, and it’s shared alongside our new Dominican amigos. After our work day, we will head back to the casa to partake in our afternoon activities. These activities will include: yoga lessons, self defense class, swimming and surfing!
On the days that we are not working at the summer camp, we will be volunteering alongside local residents and their coastal restoration efforts. Heavy rains in the DR led to flooding this year, and there are many opportunities to help with tree planting and cleaning up the beaches and neighborhood waterways. To reward everyone for their hard work, we have planned a fun hike to see the waterfalls of Damajagua. We will take a dip in the crystal blue water and soak in all the beauty that the DR has to offer. We will spend our evenings in group session where we can reflect on our daily experiences and how we used our mind, bodies, and whole spirits.
Cost of Dominican Republic- $2700 This price includes airfare, ground transportation, housing, all meals and activities.
